Carnaval de Quebec

Quebec City’s Winter Carnival promises all ages 3 weeks full of fun events, challenging outdoor competitions and winter fun. Definitely one of Quebec city’s premier special events, snow lovers from around the world come to visit our beautiful city and participate in all the action. Slide down a snow hill on an inner tube. Visit the emblematic Castle of the Bonhomme Carnaval. Race in a horse drawn sled. So many wonderful activities will tempt you, and you will not want to miss out on the fun.

Every year, a canoe race takes place on the icy St.Lawrence River, as well as dog sledding races down Grand Allée to the Chateau Frontenac. During this time of year, you will find many exquisite ice sculptures throughout the city. The Carnival hosts an international competition of snow sculptors, where local artists as well as those from around the world gather in Québec City, creating impressive and beautiful snow sculptures. The festivities close with a fabulous parade with enormous floats and all different types of extravagant characters.

For the 2017 season, Carnival begins January 27th and ends the 12th of February.
