Ski Tour Canada 2016 in Quebec City

Ski Tour Canada’s Cross Country Ski World Cup was a huge success this year in Quebec City. Just 4 years ago, in 2012, Quebec City had the pleasure of hosting this world sporting event, right in the heart of the city. The competitors raced through the Plaines of Abraham, as well as Parliament Hill to the Finish Line. One would think that such an event would be better suited in the mountains, at one of Quebec’s glorious ski resorts. Yet surprisingly, Quebec City offers some perfect and challenging terrain, right in the city center.

Skiing in Quebec City? Try the Plaines of Abraham!

Mother Nature certainly helped make for two perfect days of trials and the finals, giving Quebec City 100 cm of snow since February 17th. Overall, this winter has most certainly felt like spring to date, one of the mildest on records. The latest blizzard like snow conditions have been a welcome gift for those of us that adore spring skiing and other winter activities. We not only have an excellent snow base in the local ski mountains: Stoneham and Mont Sainte-Anne, we also have the luxury of free cross country skiing in the Plaines of Abraham. The perfect conditions promise locals and visitors alike and excellent spring season. The Plaines of Abraham boast approximately 11 km of ski trails, with absolutely spectacular views of the Saint-Lawrence River.

Below, I have the info needed on renting skis or snow shoes should anyone desire. The Plaines are just a few minutes from the hotel, and to get to the rental area, about a 15 minute walk.

Quebec City Ski Packages.

With the Canadian Dollar so low, if you are coming this spring, wow, some great deals await. I can honestly say, that already, the price of a ski ticket in Quebec compared to those in the US are truly a bargain. However, if you take the exchange rate into consideration, this is really the place. I would also recommend a ski day in Le Massif. This ski resort is about a one hour drive from the city, but the views of the Saint Lawrence are incredible. If you need any suggestions, give us a call, as we are all happy to help you organize your spring ski vacation with us at the Manoir d’Auteuil.
