Dive into Quebec’s winter | 5 activities | Visit Quebec City

Discover the magic of winter in Quebec through five extraordinary activities. The season transforms Quebec City into a stunning white wonderland, where outdoor enthusiasts and thrill-seekers can engage in unique experiences.

Looking for ways to make the most of your winter getaway? Here are five exciting activities you absolutely can’t miss:

1.Ice climbing at Parc de la Chute-Montmorency

For those who seek thrilling challenges, ice climbing at Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is an extraordinary adventure that promises to ignite your spirit of exploration and push your limits like never before. In winter, the cliff on the west side of the falls freezes to form an imposing ice wall that both beginners and experienced climbers can scale under the supervision of specialist guides.

Take the plunge and discover for yourself the indescribable thrill of reaching the summit. Once you’re up there, the exhilaration will leave you speechless!

With crampons on your feet and ice axes in hand, you will navigate the frozen surface while facing the cold. This incredible experience allows you to enjoy a unique view of this majestic waterfall and the St. Lawrence River.

Initiation courses are offered in collaboration with the Ascensation climbing school from January 4th to March 17, 2025. Visit the Aventurex website for more information.

Trust me, it is an incredible way to observe the real beauty of the Montmorency Falls and an adventure to try once in a lifetime!

2. An unforgettable introduction to ice canoeing

Would you like to have an unforgettable, purely Quebecois experience? Plunge into the icy waters of the St. Lawrence River aboard a canoe, push the boat onto the ice floe, and paddle as a team for an extraordinary adventure. Once on the water, paddling in the middle of the snowy landscape of Old Quebec City is a simply magical experience.

Accompanied by experienced guides, you will learn the essential techniques to face the harsh winter conditions.

I recommend the ice canoe and Nordic sauna initiation activity. You can end the day with a comfortable moment in a Nordic sauna.

This activity combines adrenaline, teamwork and discovery of typically Quebec sport. Whether you are a fan of extreme sports or simply curious to try something new, ice canoeing will offer you unforgettable memories and total immersion in the Quebec winter.

Visit the Canot à glace expérience company website to book your initiation!

3. Sledding at the Massif de Charlevoix

Embark on an exhilarating winter adventure at the Massif de Charlevoix. Sledding down a 7.5 km track on a wooden sled provides thrilling excitement and reveals breathtaking panoramic views of the St. Lawrence River. Embrace this winter adventure!

Meet at the top of the mountain 30 minutes before your departure time. After a few essential explanations about the descent, you will be ready to go.

Once on your sled, you’ll immediately feel the adrenaline rush as you zigzag through the snowy forest. The descent lasts around 45 minutes and is punctuated by winding turns and long straights where you can reach good speed while maintaining control.

For a complete experience, I highly recommend taking a cat ski up the mountain to the starting site! Don’t forget to rent a ski helmet or bring your own.

It is important to book your tickets in advance on the website as it is a very popular activity!

With family, friends or looking for an original activity, sledding at Le Massif is a memorable experience.

If you find yourself with some extra time, consider indulging in a delightful meal at a restaurant in the charming downtown of Baie-Saint-Paul.

4. Festive evening at the Disco-Glace in Quebec

Put on your skates and head to the Disco-Glace de Québec for a fun and memorable winter evening! Located at the agora site in the Old Port of Quebec, this brand-new outdoor skating rink offers a delightful skating experience paired with an exciting atmosphere featuring colorful light shows and great music.

Whether you are a beginner or an expert in skating, the experience is accessible to everyone and promises to make you vibrate to the rhythm of the music. The atmosphere is friendly and warm, ideal for an outing with friends, and family or even for a romantic evening.

Renting a pair of skates is possible on-site for $5 for children and $8 for adults.

Come enjoy this first skating season until March 9, 2025!

As soon as you arrive, you will be welcomed by passionate guides who will teach you the basics of driving a team. After a few explanations, it’s time for action! You will have the opportunity to take the reins of your own sled or let yourself be guided by an experienced musher through snowy trails.

This is our favorite adventure that brings you in perfect harmony with nature!
