Carnaval de Québec : a winter festival in Quebec City

Celebrate winter at the Carnaval de Québec with a fun and festive program. The Manoir d’Auteuil is located in the hearth of all the festivities.

The Carnaval de Québec: an entertaining program for everyone

After a 68th edition with only outdoor activities due to Covid, we are all looking forward to celebrating winter in true form during Winter Carnaval. From February 3 to 12 2023, the Carnaval de Québec presents is 69th edition.

For those who are not familiar with the Carnaval de Québec, it can be briefly described as a family event during which winter sports and artistic activities are organized for all those ready to brave the cold and enjoy the outdoor winter magic.

Over the course of 10 consecutive days, the Carnival features Quebec folklore, among other things, with exhibitions of ice sculptures, ax throwing games and the narration of incredible wood stories.

Do not forget the very famous Bonhomme, official representative of the Carnival since 1955!

Back this year: night parades, Bonhomme’s ice palace, urban sliding, snow bath, canoe racing, music shows and many more.

Consult the official program on the web site.

The Carnaval de Québec’s Effigy: your pass for all activities

It is possible to obtain effigies on the Carnival website or on site for $25 each.  These effigies serve as entrance tickets to the many festive sites and are compulsory for people 13 years of age and over.

In addition to all the activities offered from February 3 to 12, 2023, the Carnaval de Québec is conducting several contests. Participate in these contests to prepare for the fun and fantastic festivities taking place during Quebec City’s winter Carnaval during the first half of February.

The Manoir d’Auteuil: in the heart of the festivities in Old Québec

The Manoir d’Auteuil is located in the heart of the area where the majority of the festivities take place while remaining a small, quiet and warm hotel, the perfect place to come back to rest after a day playing outside. We also offer free coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the hotel lounge, everything to warm up your frozen cheeks from the cold Quebec winter.  We encourage you to walk across the street from the Manoir, and visit the ice castle situated just outside the Old City walls. Every year, construction crews begin building a one of a kind ice castle in January, taking over a month while stacking ice block upon ice block, all while integrating many artistic ice sculptures throughout the design.  It’s so much fun for Quebec City residents to watch the castle transform from a few blocks of ice to a beautiful and amazing ice castle.
