The Marché du Vieux Port of Québec

With the backdrop of the Louise Basin and bordered by the St. Lawrence River, this open farmer’s market is a must see on your visit to Québec City. Located only a few blocks away from Old Québec, you will be mesmerised as you enjoy spending hours strolling through the stalls of fresh produce, chat with the friendly merchants and savor local Québecois terroir products.

The heart of downtown in Quebec City

There are countless finds among the many kiosks. You will find plenty of local specialties such as ice wine, apple cider, beer, French pastries, locally-produced flower honey, sausages, seafood from the St. Lawrence River, original handmade fine cheeses, foie gras, traditional meat pie, maple syrup, handmade soaps, clothes, flowers and much more… and in the cold season you can even shop for your own authentic Christmas tree. At this farmer’s market in Old Quebec, a very large selection of items await you. Locals who have made a hobby of visiting the province’s many large farmer’s markets have commented that there is much more choice and variety than at other markets, including Jean-Talon and Atwater in Montreal, although the Old Port market is smaller in scale.
